- I recently purchased a USR 28.8 Vi modem and I am perfectly happy with
- the hardware. I am using Windows 95 and am satisfied with the fax
- software (MS Exchange) that comes with it; however I do not have a
- voice app so I went ahead and installed the "QuickLink" software that
- comes with the modem in order to use the answering machine functions,
- even though I thought this might cause a problem with my MS Exchange
- setup.
-
- Now in all fairness I must say that my problem might pre-date the
- installation of "QuickLink" since I do not fax much and when I do fax
- I rarely fax to someone who would tell me it came out all wrong.
-
- Here is the problem. If I fax directly from a document (by printing
- to the MS Fax driver) the document faxes just fine. But if I fax THE
- SAME DOCUMENT, by using the "compose a new fax" option in Windows 95,
- the document gets truncated into a one-page document and the print is
- overlapping. This problem persists even though I have completely
- un-installed "QucikLink"!
-
- After visiting the MS Knowledge Base I have tried all kinds of
- different setting for the fax driver, particularly different spooling
- options, all to no avail. I have completely un-installed "QuickLink"
- and MS Fax and then reinstalled MS Fax yet the problem still persists
- (this also makes me think the problem might pre-date the installation
- of "QuickLink").
-
- So even after un-installing "QuickLink" entirely and reinstalling MS
- Fax the problem still persists. If I print a document to the MS Fax
- driver (BTW you loose the "add a file" option when you do this) the
- document faxes fine, the documents look fine in preview and will
- print fine, but if I try to fax THE SAME DOCUMENT from exchange it
- becomes a jumbled one page mess.
-
- Can anyone out there explain this situation???
-
- Thanks in advance,
- Jim
